Meta has introduced a new lineup of AI-powered smart glasses, aiming to address the privacy concerns that have surrounded wearable technology. The latest offering includes camera-free glasses that focus solely on audio capabilities, a move designed to alleviate worries about data privacy and surveillance associated with camera-equipped devices.
Priced at $349, these audio-only smart glasses will be available starting October 13. Unlike Meta’s previous models, these glasses do not feature cameras for capturing photos or videos. Despite this change, the company emphasizes that privacy remains a critical component of their technology, with camera-equipped models still featuring visible recording indicators.
In addition to the camera-free glasses, Meta announced an upgraded version of its smart glasses with display capabilities. These glasses are priced from $799 and are set to become available in more international markets. Furthermore, Meta unveiled lighter mixed-reality glasses that utilize an external battery and memory pack, slated for launch in spring 2027 at a starting price of $1,299.
Meta also highlighted its AI-powered personal assistant, Muse. This technology is designed to perform various tasks, including booking appointments, making calls, and connecting users with services. Both the AI glasses and Muse are integral to Meta’s strategy of expanding its presence in the consumer AI market.
